President of the Research Institute for Strategy of Natural Resources at Waseda University. Ex-Special Advisor to the Japanese Cabinet for Natural Resources Policy for >8 years.

Previous notable roles include:

  • Director of PNG Division in the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
  • Director of the Financial Cooperation Division
  • Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
  • A former First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Brazil.

He is a Professor of the graduate school of Sports Sciences, Waseda. He was also the Secretary-General in the Cabinet HQ for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. He holds a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard and a PhD in Engineering from the University of Tokyo.
